Proofreading with a One-to-One Session


Proofreading (Academic English Support) is a proofreading service that isprovided by professional proofreaders. At Proofreading (Academic English Support), we proofread

  • senior theses and MA theses written in English
  • coursework, assignments, and papers written in English that are not for an ELA course

In "Proofreading with a One-to-One Session," we do the following things: 

1. Proofread your work and correct any grammatical or spelling errors.

2. Identify and rephrase any sentences that sound awkward. 

3. Discuss your work with you and ensure that it reads smoothly.

1. Your document

  • We only proofread documents written in English.
  • The maximum number of words that we are able to proofred for one session is 1,500. If you are submitting a document that contains more than 1,500 words, please highlight the 1,500 words that you would like have proofread. pages that we are able to check per session is 5 pages (maximum 1,500 words). Please use the ICU senior thesis format. You will need to book a separate appointment for every 5 pages that you would like to have proofread.
  • You can only book one session at a time. After you finish your sesson, you will be able to book you r next appointment. 
  • Please note that we do not proofread bibliographies.
  • Please use Grammarly to check your document before you book your appointment.
  • Please submit a Word document wherever possible. If that is difficult, we are also able to accept PDF files.


2. How to book your appointment

1. Please refer to the Google Calendar to see which dates/times are available.

2. After you find a date and time that suits you, please click the "Apply from here" button to book your appointment. Please upload your document at the same time.

  • Please note: The Application Form does not work in Mozilla Firefox. 
  • You can only book one session at a time. After you finish your session with the proofreader, you will be able to book your next appointment.


3. You will receive a confirmation email of your booking.

4. A proofreader will go through your document and correct any errors.

5. Visit the Proofreading (Academic English Support) booth in the WSD Area (Othmer Library 1F) at the appointed time. The proofreader will discuss your work with you.

6. The proofreader will return your document (via e-mail) at the end of the session.
*Please do not reply to the e-mail that you receive from the proofreader.
