Established in 1977, the Sacred Music Center (SMC) took over the responsibilities of the Organ Committee that had managed and administered the Rieger Organ since its installation in the University Chapel in 1970. The SMC has sponsored organ concerts and Christmas concerts, inviting well-known organists from Japan and abroad, organizing open lectures, an organ open house, and private organ lessons for ICU students.
The office of the SMC is located in the fourth floor of the University Hall. Its facilities include two practice organs, the Arimasa Mori commemorative organ and Noack organ, one harpsichord, and three upright pianos. There are practice studios in addition to listening equipment and archives.
