PROGRAM OUTLINE

Eligible Students:

(1) 5-year program candidate (Undergraduate 4th year) and (2) Graduate Students (Master’s Course and Doctor’s Course) at ICU.

Program Requirements for completion:

Students who fulfilled all the following requirements can apply for a Program Certificate.

1. Degree Requirement

Successful completion of the Master’s degree program at ICU’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences *Exempt for the master's degree holders enrolled in ICU’s Doctoral Course.

2. Course Requirements

Completion of 7 courses in total (2 courses from Core, 3 courses from Elective and 2 courses from any fields) from the course list. Average GPA for these courses needs to be above 3.5 as well.

3. Other Requirements

Language Requirement

Proof of successful completion of 1 of the UN official language courses (except English) at the preliminary level taken from ICU’s World Language courses (3 terms) or other institutions with equivalent semesters;

Internship Requirement

● Proof of an internship experience of desirably 1-3 months hosted by a recognized institution related to diplomatic and international public service, including governmental, intergovernmental, and international non-governmental organizations.
*In any region/country. Both full time and part time are counted. This includes participation during the summer recess or for a few hours per week in local Tokyo offices. Participants must plan carefully so that the internship will not affect their study plan and course taking.) QALL402 and QPPI524 may be counted for this requirement.(need to get approval by the DIPS committee before participating in the internship)
(Supplemental Information) In many cases, UN and other International Organizations accommodate 2-6 months of internship.
