Profile
Maiko Kato graduated from Elizabeth University of Music Department of Music Performance. She then completed her master's degree at Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School.
In 2008, she moved to France, where she acquired the Diplôme National Supérieur Professionel de Musicien ( DNSPM) for organ from Institut Supérieur des Arts de Toulouse and the Diplôme d'Études Musicales(DEM)for cembalo from Conservatoire National de Région de Toulouse by unanimous decision from the adjudicators. In 2010, she won first prize at the Jean-Louis Florentz International Organ Competition and the Grand Prix from Institut de France Académie des Beaux-Arts. She was a finalist at the
International Gottfried Silbermann Organ Competition in 2013. The same year, she won third prize and the audience prize at the International Xavier Darasse Organ Competition. She is a coveted presence at music festivals around France and on radio programs. She has released CDs with the Baroque group Sasqueboutier and trombonist Fabrice Millischer, winner of Victoires de la Musique Classique award. Currently she serves as organist at Luther Junior and Senior High School. She is a member of the Japan Organ Society and the Japan Association of Organists.
