Profile
After Ryo Tamiya graduated from Kyoto University Faculty of Law, he majored in organ studies at Tokyo University of the Arts, where he also acquired his master's degree. He has been awarded the Ataka Prize, Acanthus Prize, Graduate School Acanthus Prize, and Toride City Music Prize. While a graduate student, he studied at Musikhochshule Lübeck Organ Department, which he graduated with honors. He was the recipient of the 2015 Aoyama Foundation Scholarship. His organ mentors include Minako Kida, Naoya Otsuka, Rie Hiroe, and Arvid Gast. He studied basso continuo with Yuichiro Shiina; improvisation with Takeshi Kondo; and, cembalo with Asami Hirosawa, Hans Jurgen=Schnoor and Pieter Jan Belder. Presently he teaches at Beata Organ Studio in Edogawabashi and Beluga Organ Studio in Kannai. He is also research and teaching assistant at Tokyo University of the Arts Organ Department, and lecturer at Senzoku Gakuen College of Music. He currently serves as organist at the United Church of Christ in Japan Asagaya Church, and is a member of the Japan Association of Organists.
