Jean-Philippe Merckaert
Born in Belgium. He earned a Premier Prix from the Paris Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique, a Master's degree from the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles, and a Master's degree in Classical Composition from the Conservatoire Royal de Mons. In 2007, he won second prize at the Gottfried Silbermann International Organ Competition. In 2009, he won second prize in the organ category at the Bruges International Early Music Competition. From 2003 to 2004, he served as the exclusive organist at Sapporo Concert Hall Kitara. From 2011 to 2014, he was the organist at Tokorozawa Civic Cultural Center Muse Hall.Currently serves as organist at Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre, organist at Nasunogahara Harmony Hall, lecturer at the Institute for Sacred Music at St. Gregory's House, and organ Instructor at Katakura Church of Christ.CD releases include Johann Sebastian Bach: Chorales from the Leipzig Manuscript (2-disc set) (Switzerland) and Franck, Debussy, Saint-Saëns: Organ Arrangements (Paris).
