“QPPI528 UN Seminar: Sustainable Development” will start in March.
We are pleased to announce that the UN Seminar will be held on campus for one week during spring break as a framework of the Graduate School's Diplomacy and International Public Service Program (DIPS). This course is one of the core programs of DIPS. It was originally designed for participants to visit the United Nations Headquarters in New York, but it has been held on campus due to COVID-19 pandemic since last year.
Outline:
- Students will attend SDGs themed lectures (20 sessions in total) offered by current staff members of the UN Secretariat and other relevant UN agencies around the world as well as Japanese diplomats and discuss the role of the UN and Japan's position. Two students will be assigned to each lecture, and they will be expected to actively engage in question-and-answer sessions. Making and editing a final report is required. Applications for this seminar from students have been accepted in November and December, and 20 students have already registered for it.
- A half-day joint discussion (Youth Forum) with students majoring in international relations at Deakin University in Australia will be held for the first time.
- Students will also receive HR training that includes tips on how to prepare applications for International Public Service and mock interviews.
