Funds are being raised for the construction and operation of the new physical education center, swimming pool building, and roofed tennis courts, which will be completed in 2018. With the strengthening of health and physical education peculiar to the liberal arts, higher quality learning in small groups and further enhancement of students’ extracurricular activities will be realized.

Building “Physical Education” Rooted in Liberal Arts

New PE facilities will be completed in December 2018 (planned) for an effective liberal arts style physical education with renewed potential. Senior Lecturer Shin Takahashi says, “After the present PE facilities were built in 1972, an expansion of the student body made it inevitable to enlarge class size in the following 45 years. With new facilities, we can further enhance the quality of instruction in small classes.”

New facilities to be completed in 2018 are ◆the gymnasium (the basketball court has dimensions required for formal matches）;◆swimming pool building (with a seminar room directly accessible from the pool）; and, ◆roofed tennis courts with lights（used for PE tennis courses, extracurricular activities, and PE classes other than tennis on rainy days, completed in April 2018）. The existing P gym will be sound-proofed for wadaiko and dance classes as well as extra-curricular activities.

　Your generous donations will be used to enhance and procure equipment in the facilities for students to make use of our new resources to maximum effect. We plan to invite all donors to the Completion Ceremony events, as well as list donors in the “The ICU” and on recognition plaques. （not including those who have made a request for anonymity）.
