About Friends of ICU（FOI）

"Friends of ICU" is the collective name for the fundraising initiatives established by International Christian University (ICU).
 
The history of ICU is a testament to prayer and profound commitment. In the immediate aftermath of World War II, when Japan’s reconstruction was still in its infancy, an international fundraising campaign was launched across both Japan and the United States. This movement was driven by a strong desire to establish a new institution of higher education rooted in Christian faith. Thanks to the selfless contributions and sincere sentiments of countless individuals, ICU was dedicated in 1953.
 
Since then, our generous supporters have sustained and brought to life ICU’s mission: to educate, based on Christian ideals, individuals of conscience, internationally cultured and with a strong sense of citizenship in a democratic society, who will serve God and people and contribute to the establishment of lasting peace.
 
To pass this founding spirit to the next generation and further evolve as a "University of Tomorrow" that looks toward the future, this initiative calls for ongoing support centered on three core pillars: “scholarships” to ensure students can pursue their studies without financial anxiety; “campus environment maintenance” to coexist with the rich natural beauty where our history resides; and “support for cultural activities” to preserve and promote our historical and artistic heritage. Through these efforts, we aim to bridge ICU’s mission to the next generation and ensure its continued development.
