Supporting Organ Music at ICU

Feel the brilliant tones of music that resonate peacefully into a bright future.

The generous donations will be used to maintain the 4 organs at ICU and to support activities at the Sacred Music Center(music education programs, outreach activities).

About This Donation

Message

ICU possesses three pipe organs, including the Rieger Organ in the University Chapel and the Mori Arimasa Memorial Organ donated by Professor Arimasa Mori. The university also has one harpsichord and three pianos. These assets are managed by the Sacred Music Center. The Center actively promotes research in sacred music centered on the organ, provides the necessary equipment and environment, and plans and executes music activities with international reach. Through these activities, the Center strives to disseminate sacred music and thereby maximize contributions to both ICU and society.
The Rieger Organ is installed in the University Chapel, which underwent a major overhaul in 2019. The organ celebrated its 50th anniversary of dedication in 2020. The organ continues to fill the Chapel with brilliant tones during annual concerts. In recent years, ICU Chapel also hosted performances of music such as gagaku (Japanese imperial court music) and Handel's Messiah, thereby expanding new activities in liberal arts education at ICU through music.
Thanks to support from Friends of ICU, we completed a major restoration of the Mori Arimasa Memorial Organ in 2025. We look forward to your continued generous support for preserving the ICU tradition of organ music, with a focus on the Sacred Music Center.
