Passing on a legacy of knowledge to the future
This fund supports the planning and operation of the Hachiro Yuasa Memorial Museum, as well as the preservation of its collections. The aim is to pass on precious intellectual and cultural assets to future generations. This includes the collections of Dr. Hachiro Yuasa and archaeological materials held by ICU.
About This Donation
Overview
The ICU Hachiro Yuasa Memorial Museum was built to commemorate the contribution made by the late Dr. Hachiro Yuasa to ICU, in particular his great effort in founding and nurturing our university, and serving as its first president. The museum carefully preserves and manages folk art materials that Dr. Yuasa collected and donated to the university, archaeological artifacts that date from the Paleolithic to the Jōmon periods and were excavated from sites throughout the ICU campus, and other artworks and historical materials held by ICU. In addition to utilizing these collections for education and research at ICU, the Museum strives to disseminate knowledge about its holdings to members of the university community and the general public, thereby contributing to the enrichment of liberal arts education. With this goal in mind, the museum organizes a wide range of programs throughout the year, including exhibitions and open lectures. Donations are used as part of the operating funds of the Hachiro Yuasa Memorial Museum to support and further develop these activities. Uses of donations include the acquisition and restoration of collection items and the renewal of equipment and furnishings within the museum.
