Preserving ICU’s natural surroundings for generations to come
ICU is situated on an expansive 620,000-square-meter (approx. 190,000 tsubo) campus—one of the largest in Tokyo. This rich natural environment, unmatched in its scale and beauty, serves as an invaluable educational resource that fosters aesthetic sensibility, brings tranquility, and inspires intellectual growth in our students. Generous donations to this fund will be dedicated to the preservation and maintenance of our beautiful campus, ensuring this legacy is passed on to future generations.
About This Donation
Message
he ICU grounds are blessed with an abundance of nature, with seasonal flowers blooming across our expansive 620,000-square-meter campus. This vibrant ecosystem is home to diverse wildlife, including badgers, Raccoon dogs, and a rich variety of insects. Bordering the Nogawa River and the Kokubunji Escarpment—a lush 30-km green belt—our campus remains a rare oasis of untouched nature within metropolitan Tokyo.
This wooded environment serves as both an invaluable educational resource and a peaceful sanctuary for our students. However, in recent years, our trees have been increasingly threatened by typhoons, pests, and the effects of climate change. The seedlings planted during ICU’s founding nearly seven decades ago have grown into majestic giants, and as they age, they require specialized care and preservation. To pass this precious natural heritage on to the next generation, we ask for your generous support and donations.

ICU Sakura Replanting Project
Thanks to the generous support for the “ICU Cherry Blossom Fund” (2014–2016), we are making steady progress on our project to revitalize 72 cherry trees. To protect the scenery our alumni and students love, we take a careful, long-term approach—diagnosing tree health and replanting only two or three saplings each year. This 15- to 30-year restoration plan ensures that the spirit of our campus is passed down, keeping the blossoms vibrant for decades to come.

AY2024 Activity Report: ICU Sakura Replanting Project
After a period of fluctuating temperatures, signs of spring have finally arrived, and the cherry blossoms at ICU have begun to bloom. The fact that we can enjoy these beautiful blossoms again this year is entirely due to the generous support we received through the ICU Cherry Blossom Fund (2014–2016) and the Conserving the Natural Environment on Campus Fund. We would like to express our deepest gratitude once again for your kind contributions.
