Finding out Local Communities in Japan: Brochure for "Community Service-Learning" Issued
We have just issued a brochure introducing the "Community Service-Learning" program, which involves service activities at NPOs and public institutions in Japan. Compared to the "International Service-Learning" program, service activities overseas, the number of participants in this program is relatively small, but we have gathered feedback from ICU partner institutions and participating students in order to promote this program, which is not yet well known. The brochure consists of an introduction to the activities and voices based on the three ways to participate in community service-learning.
- Host Institutions introduced by SLC…Research Center for Nuclear Weapons Abolition, Nagasaki University, Glocal Mitaka (Tokyo), Asian Rural Institute (Tochigi)
- Self arranded Host Institutions...Community revitalization project using ab abandoned schools in Arawa City (Fukui), Zero Waste Center in Kamikatsu-cho (Tokushima), and Fair Trade Label Japan, promoting ethical consumption in Japan
- JSSL Program…A joint program between ICU and Middlebury College in US to learn about Japanese society with students from various countries
- Student Voices...History of Japanese American Internment Project, Asia Christian Education Fund (educational support for Bangladesh), Nagasaki Foundation for the Promotion of Peace, PV-Net (global warming awareness activities), etc.
