Theme: GEN028 N2: Statistical Analysis in Society
Facilitator: Sawa Omori-sensei, Yuji Shimizu-sensei and Yoshie Moriki-sensei
Participants: 7 faculty members; 9 staff members; and from the CTL, the Director, the Associate Director, and 5 staff members who manage BBL&L
In this session, Omori-sensei, Shimizu-sensei, and Moriki-sensei shared an overview of the course "GEN028 N2: Statistical Analysis in Society", one of the courses in the "Mathematics, Data Science and AI Education Program in the Liberal Arts Program” that they collaboratively taught. After explaining the background information of how the course was developed and offered, they shared their tips to meet the course objective to convey the excitement of statistics across the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences and shared their experiences. In the Q&A session, specific questions were asked following their presentation, such as student assessment and how they manage group presentations.

Theme: ”EMI (English as a Medium of Instruction): How to Make Sure Students Are Active Learners"

Participants: 7 faculty members from the CTL, the Director, the Associate Director, and 4 staff members who manage BBL&L
Ammour-Mayeur-sensei shared how he keeps his large introductory classes interactive and makes students engaged and proactive, especially when using English as a medium of instruction for students whose first language is not English. Several instructors who participated in the EMI training workshop attended and shared their experiences and actively exchanged ideas and opinions.
