AY 2024 Spring TA Orientation (April 3, 2024)
On April 3, 2024, a TA orientation was held for TAs who will be assisting classes in the spring term. Since there were some changes related to class operation this time, such as classroom changes due to the renovation of University Hall and the relocation of the Help Desk, participation was mandatory regardless of whether or not they had previous experience in TA duties.
Firstly, CTL Director professor Kei Nasu (Major: History) explained that TAs at ICU are part of the ICU faculty group and that it is important for them not only to perform their requested duties but also to propose questions and ideas to the faculty and make it a learning opportunity. Next, three TA Orientation Supporters explained the tasks most frequently requested by faculty members, introduced best practices, and gave advice that communication with faculty members is key to carrying out the tasks successfully. Finally, the administrative staff provided some announcements and time for a question and answer session.
