You may be feeling a little tired from midterm exams and daily assignments. We practiced with Ms. Tanaka, a LAS staff member and a licensed clinical psychologist, how to “change your mind” and “relax” anytime and anywhere before getting busier. After a mini-lecture on mindfulness, the participants moved outdoors to experience the “Raisin Exercise,” in which they used a single raisin and concentrated on its shape and taste at the ICU lawn.
【Participant's comments】
“It was good because it calmed my mind!” “It was the first time for me to concentrate on the taste and aroma, and I learned that it also leads to relaxation.” "Having an object to focus on, raisins, was more relaxing for me than meditation, in which I had to focus on my breathing.
