LAS Users Gathering(September 24, 2025)

  September marks the beginning of the autumn term, and students are busy, often leading to fatigue setting in. Learning Accessibility Services (LAS) held the “LAS User Gathering” as an opportunity for students to relax, refresh, and connect with one another while sharing information.

  For this event, we played two games—"Anything Basket" (“Nandemo Basket”) and the "Inspiration Game"—that encouraged sharing common experiences and "relatable moments" (aruaru).

  Anything Basket is similar to musical chairs, where the person(“Oni”) gives a prompt, and anyone who fits the description stands up and scrambles for another seat. The person left without a chair becomes the next "Oni" and issues a new prompt. Everyone was excited when the prompt, "You put off things you need to do right away," caused everyone to stand up and move at once.

  In the Inspiration Game, participants answered open-ended questions that allowed for free responses, such as "What's your small reward for yourself after finishing a task or assignment?" Participants shared answers like eating chocolate or watching their favorite videos. If a participant's answer matched someone else's, they earned a point, and the goal was to accumulate as many points as possible. For the prompt, "Which tools or methods do you use to organize tasks or assignments you need to complete?" there were classic answers, such as using a smartphone reminder. Still, there were also people who used different tools for campus and private life, and others who used applications combined with a Pomodoro timer. Participants listened and took notes on the methods of others.

  The LAS User Gathering is planned to be held about once a month. The October event is currently being planned, and the idea is a fun, casual art production activity that involves nature.
